- Remove the braking, steering, and suspension components in order to gain access to the front left side axle shaft. Remove the axle nut and remove the axle from the spindle. Remove the inboard side of the axle from the transmission and clean any residual oil that may seep out. Check the condition of the axle seal in the transmission and replace if necessary. Install the new axle into the transmission ensuring that it is seated properly. Install the outboard side back into the spindle and tighten the axle nut to specification. Install all steering, braking, and suspension components back to original configuration and road test the vehicle to confirm repairs.
