- Check all components in the emergency brake for proper operation and found that the emergency brake shoes are completely deteriorated and will require replacement in order to repair. Remove the brake calipers, brake shoes, and brake rotors in order to access the emergency brake shoes. Remove all associated springs and hardware attaching the shoes to the backing plate. Replace the emergency brake shoes and lubricate the backing plate. Install all hardware and springs. Reinstall the brake rotors, brake pads, and caliper. Tighten all hardware to specification and check all functions of the emergency brake to confirm repairs.
